Outside the Wall (Roger Waters) 1:42

All alone, or in two's,
The ones who really love you
Walk up and down outside the wall.
Some hand in hand
And some gathered together in bands.
The bleeding hearts and artists
Make their stand.

And when they've given you their all
Some stagger and fall, after all it's not easy
Banging your heart against some mad bugger's wall.

Sometimes pickle juice just doesn't sound good

Allergy season. Yay. Need some allergy meds, which, a couple years ago, could be purchased "over the counter", but now I must enter my personal information into a massive government database to alleviate my seasonal symptoms of violent sneezing, itchy eyes/nose and all around misery, God knows we're all safe from crank dealers now...so I got to the Wal-Mart pharmacy a bit early and had to wait for them to open, and even though I was able to manage my minor aggravation from escalating to a "postal" level (another small yet significant triumph for me) I found myself pondering the dilemma faced by the elderly, and how so many are dependent on a system which is designed to be so completely expensive, confusing and so downright overwhelming that many of our old people probably die from stress-related heart conditions compounded by bureaucratic complexities or just give up trying to figure shis shit out.. The only ones who profit, are, as usual the rich and powerful; Government agencies who benefit in the form of contributions from the crooked drug companies who REALLY make out.
Then. I was thinking again, about all the people who have been duped into becoming dependent on drugs they don't really need. God knows I've tried my damnedest to live without Prozac, I refuse to succumb to the ever-popular "victim mentality" that permeates the society I live in, and I decided a while back to find answers to life's emotionally charged questions within myself and without the aid of drugs (nope, no pot either.) but hey, I digress...

I also thought about the pharmacist himself, and how he feels about his role in this system. While he definitely is responsible for dispensing much needed medications to many, many legitamately needful people, I wonder if his conscience ever screws with him over the fact that he's also just handing out "fix" after "fix" to so many others who have been blinded and coerced into following the other sheeple who are lining up at the "big-medicine" trough that puts ungodly amounts of money into the pockets of evil corporate fucks like Pfizer, Glaxo Smith Cline, etc., etc, and so on, and I thought to myself "yeah, if I did get into a discussion with he pharmacist about all this (which I wouldn't do, because I've learned how to manage my temper without drugs) he'd probably just end up telling me to write my representative." So I decided "Dammit. I AM going to go home and write my representative, so the next time some one says 'write your represtative' I can say 'I already did!' and I can mention to my representative about the numerous, frustrating, tedious roadblocks that are encountered by honest, hurting, people, or just people like me who have an axe to grind (other than my B.C. Rich)"

and then,
I just had to laugh...
